Innovation and sustainability central at VADO Companies Day 2021

Every year, VADO organises its Companies Day to catch up with the management of its companies in an interactive and inspiring way and to further strengthen mutual cooperation. Almost all VADO companies came through the Covid crisis unscathed and are now focussing on the future again.  Intensive work is being done to further expand the group of companies, such as recently with the acquisitions of Romotech and Mecal High-tech Systems.

In the afternoon part of the programme, interesting contributions were given on ‘Megatrends & Disruption’ by Carlo van de Weijer (member of the Supervisory Board of VADO) and ‘Sustainable entrepreneurship’ by the Climate Neutral Group. Topics that fit with VADO’s vision to invest in companies and initiatives that deliver clear added value to people and society with their innovative solutions.

Carlo van de Weijer gave a challenging presentation in which he showed that high-tech solutions like AI and Robotics can be seen as a threat but also as a solution for societal challenges like energy transition and logistics. Arjen Struik, Olav Provily and Bas Ooteman introduced the approach of the Climate Neutral Group to help companies go from ‘A to Zero CO2’. They also came up with the proposition that as a company, you can see this as a risk but that you can also actively embrace it as an opportunity to which you, as a company and as an individual, can make an important contribution.
