Installation technology specialist Klein Poelhuis joins VDK Groep

Winterswijk, 18 december 2020 –  Technical service provider VDK Groep from IJsselmuiden announced its plans to take over installation company Klein Poelhuis. Both companies are active in installation technology and are situated in the northeast of the Netherlands. The sale is subject to the usual approval procedure of the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). The acquisition is expected to be completed in early 2021.

The VDK Groep is made up of 23 independently operating specialist companies that are active mainly in the installation market. In recent years, the VDK Groep has grown rapidly under its own steam and through multiple acquisitions. The acquisition of Klein Poelhuis marks an important reinforcement for the VDK Groep in a market where the complexity in technical installations continues to increase. Companies are also increasingly in need of a total approach in which electrical engineering, ICT, Security, and HVAC are offered in an integrated manner. VDK Groep includes all these expertises in-house in its group of companies.

Owned by investment company VADO Beheer since 1997, Klein Poelhuis has offices in Winterswijk, Hengelo and Emmeloord. The company saw strong development in recent years and now generates a turnover of 45 million euros. Klein Poelhuis will continue within VDK Groep as an independently operated company in unaltered form. The current management team, led by Erwin Berendsen, will continue to manage the company. Unified with VDK Groep, the strength of Klein Poelhuis will increase even further in the northeast of the Netherlands. An acquisition that fits seamlessly into the strategic planning of Klein Poelhuis.

Frans van de Kolk, General Manager of VDK Groep, sees significant benefits around the acquisition of Klein Poelhuis: “VDK Groep has a unique philosophy. Here people are central and companies operate independently within the group, while maintaining the benefits of a large company. We put the customer first and our companies are specialized in every installation component, enabling us to serve our customers from engineering to management and maintenance. Klein Poelhuis fits neatly into this philosophy.”

Erwin Berendsen, General Manager of Klein Poelhuis, is also enthusiastic about joining the VDK Groep: “The combination of independence, entrepreneurship and the strength of a group with more than 130 million euros in turnover really appeals to me. We speak each other’s language and strive for reliable, sustainable and innovative solutions for our customers. Furthermore, we complement each other very well geographically and we both put the customer first.”

VADO Beheer, the current owner of Klein Poelhuis, is pleased about this step for Klein Poelhuis. “After more than 23 years, we will miss having Klein Poelhuis as a member of the VADO family,” said Aart Fortanier, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VADO. “At the same time, both VADO and the management of Klein Poelhuis quickly agreed that the combination of Klein Poelhuis and VDK Groep is a highly logical step strategically. The company now joins a group of companies that specialize in installation technology and can provide its clients with even better support. Klein Poelhuis is therefore optimally positioned for the future.”
